What septic tank cleaning costs, and what changes it

We do not publish a fixed rate, and you should be careful of anyone who does without seeing your tank. The honest answer is that four things move the price, and once you tell us about them on the phone we can give you a firm figure before the tanker leaves.

The four things that decide your price

Size of the tank

A small household tank and a hotel or hostel tank are not the same job. A very large tank may need more than one tanker load, and that is the single biggest factor.

How full it is

A tank emptied on schedule takes less time than one that has not been touched in years and has hardened sludge at the bottom.

Distance from Lunahar

We are based at Lunahar in Salipur. A Salipur address costs less than one out toward Kendrapara, simply because of fuel and the hours the tanker spends on the road.

Access for the tanker

If the tanker can park within about 20 to 30 feet of the tank, the job is straightforward. Narrow lanes or a tank behind the house mean extra hose and extra time.

What to tell us on the phone

With these four things we can quote you accurately in about a minute. You do not need exact measurements — rough is fine.

  • Your village or ward, and the nearest landmark
  • Roughly how big the tank is, or how many people use it
  • Roughly when it was last emptied, if you know
  • Whether a tanker can reach within about 20–30 feet of the tank
  • Whether it is a normal cleaning or an emergency overflow

Why paying later costs more

An overflow is always more expensive than a planned cleaning. Once sewage backs up into the bathroom or spreads across the courtyard, you are paying for the tank emptying plus cleaning up what came out of it, and sometimes for a soak pit that has been damaged by being flooded for weeks.

A tank emptied on a normal two to three year cycle is a routine job. The same tank left until it fails is not.

Common questions about price

What is the rate for septic tank cleaning?

There is no single rate, because tanks and distances differ. What we can promise is that you get a firm figure on the phone before the tanker leaves Lunahar, and that figure does not change afterwards unless you ask for extra work.

Is safety tank cleaning priced differently?

No. Safety tank, latrine tanki and septic tank are the same tank, so the same pricing applies.

Do you charge for coming out to look?

We work out the price from what you tell us on the phone, so there is no separate visit charge for a quote.

Is a bigger tank always more expensive?

Usually, because it holds more and may need more than one tanker load. A half-full large tank can cost less than a completely full medium one.

Do you take UPI?

Yes, cash or UPI, whichever is easier for you.
